Queensland Raceway Weekend Sprint & ICC Consistency Sprint - 13 May 2023
Queensland Raceway
11:00 – 17:00
Welcome to the second private grid sprints session hosted by the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club for 2023. In addition to being a regular QLD 86 BRZ Car Club Private Grid, we are also hosting the ‘Consistency Sprint’ round of the ICC (Inter-Club Challenge Queensland) series. ICC Consistency Sprints Details Unlike regular Sprints where you are aiming to set the fastest lap time, ‘Consistency Sprints’ are about setting the most consistent laps times across the afternoon. As this is being hosted as part of a regular Queensland Raceway Sprints afternoon, the format will consist of 2 sessions on the Sprint layout followed by 2 sessions on the Clubman layout. Each session will consist of a minimum of 5 hot laps. Scoring for the ICC Consistency Sprint event will be based on the time difference between your 3 most consistent/closest lap times from any one session on the Sprint layout plus the time difference between your 3 most consistent/closest lap times from any one session on the Clubman layout. These times differences will be added together and whoever has lowest time will be declared the winner. Points will be allocated according to the 2023 ICC guidelines and will count towards the overall 2023 ICC Series. Subject to numbers, we are expecting to run multiple grids. To ensure you can be allocated to the correct grid, as part of the sign-up process please: Indicate if you wish to be included in scoring process for the ICC Consistency Sprint round or intend to participate as a normal Sprints session Indicate what sort of lap times you expect to set for Sprint Layout and Clubman layout This is to ensure we can allocate you to the best gird and have each grid ordered with the fastest cars at the front and slowest cars at the back. This results in cars naturally spreading out over the 5 hot laps and reduces the amount of overtaking required during each session. If you don’t have an idea of what your lap times will be, please list if you have any experiencing driving on the track (eg Happy Laps) and we will do our best to allocate you to a suitable gird and position. Signup Process Register and pay for your tickets via the ‘Get Tickets’ button on this page: If you wish to participate in the QR General Practice session in the morning (which is separate to the ICC event) and the Sprints session in the afternoon you can select the General Practice and Sprints option ($249). Otherwise, just select the Sprints ($180) option. Complete the ‘Tickets Details’ page including contact information and vehicle details. Please note that a Motorsports Australia ‘Speed License’ is required to participate in QR Sprints and therefore in this event as well. If you don’t have one already, an annual license can be purchased for $135 (via https://motorsport.org.au/licence) or a day license can be purchased via the QR website for $25 (see details below). Enter your payment details to pay for the tickets via the QLD 86 BRZ Car Club website.   Register for the event via the QR Website: Select the ‘QLD 86 BRZ Car Club and ICC Sprints’ from the category drop down box. Enter the relevant details on the form Select any optional extras (noting the below) you wish to pay for such as a powered garage. Please note that anyone entering the ICC Consistency Sprint event will need to select the ‘MYLAPS Transponder Hire 13/05/2023 (+$30)’ option to ensure your laps can be timed (unless you already own one of these timers – these timers are grey and red – QR no longer use the green Westhold timers). If you don’t already have a Motorsports Australia Speed License and plan to just use a day license, select the ‘Motorsports Australia Day License 13/05/2023 (+$25)’ option. Click the ‘Pay $##.00 Now’ button. If you have selected the options of hiring a timer and purchasing a day license this should be $55.00. If the amount is $180 plus the extra items you have selected, please ensure you have selected the ‘QLD 86 BRZ Car Club and ICC Sprints’ Category option at the top of the form. Additional information on how QR runs their sprint sessions, clothing requirements and vehicle requirements can be found at: the top of the QR sign on page, https://www.qldraceways.com.au/events-at-queensland-raceway/sprints#/, or further below on this page.   How Sprints are Run Sign on for sprints starts at around 11:00am. You may need to be at Queensland Raceway earlier if you want a secure a pit bay. We have an ICC/ QLD 86 BRZ Car Club driver briefing at 12:00pm sharp before the main QR briefing. For sign on at QR you are required to have photo I.D as well as your Motorsports Australia licence (or proof of purchase of the Motorsports Australia day licence). Please bring tape or something similar to affix this number to the left-hand side of your car. Timers and any QR supplied numbers must be returned to QR at the end of the day. The QR Driver’s Briefing for Sprints starts at 12:30pm. All drivers MUST attend both the QR briefing (at 12:30pm) and the ICC/QLD 86 BRZ Car Club briefing (12:00pm). QR will then generally have a short Passenger Lap Session followed by bonus laps on the National layout with the remaining time available. For those participating in the ICC Consistency Sprint event, results will be announced as soon as they have been calculated after the final (4th) sprint session. 10:00 – 17:00
This will be the club's first Sprints event for 2023. We have booked our own private grid which will be limited to those booking through the club. Due to the costs of hiring a private grid we will likely extend an invitation to members of other car clubs (with similarly paced cars) to ensure these events remain financially viable for the club to host. All of the normal benefits of a private grid will still apply, such as ensuring cars are ordered from fastest to slowest for each session and knowing that you are participating with likeminded people who respect each other and our time on the track. Pricing is identical to that of QR but has the benefits outlined above and not being grouped with cars from the general public. Below is some information on how sprints works and the requirements, if you are keen to join us, please register and pay via our club site. Once registered you’ll need to add yourself to the event @ https://www.qldraceways.com.au/calendar#/calendar navigate to the event date in the calendar enter the Weekend Sprints event and choose 86/BRZ Club ONLY. For those interested in entering the morning General Practice session we offer QR's discounted Super Sprint pricing. ****Super Sprinters you only have select this option on our site (we manage this with QR before the day)**** **Note: For first timers who have never done sprints before at Queensland Raceway, you will need to purchase a Motorsport Australia Speed License  from https://motorsport.org.au/licence/introduction ** **Timer: Timers are available for hire for $30 directly from QR on the day with a CC hold form filled out (please don’t forget to return these on the day as timers cost $700 if you accidently take it home. Timers are not mandatory and if you wish there are many apps for your phone that you can use to time your laps. When paired with an external GPS unit this is extremely accurate. ** If you need any assistance or advice, please contact us at https://www.facebook.com/qld86brz/ or via email motorsport@qld86brz.com.
